TypoShell is a Chrome extension that converts mistyped text between English and Hebrew keyboard layouts. It detects wrong-language input and offers corrections as you type.
TypoShell does not collect any user data. The table below summarises what is and is not accessed:
| Data type | Collected? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Text you type or select | ❌ No | Processed locally in memory only; never recorded or transmitted. |
| Browsing history or page content | ❌ No | Not accessed beyond the currently selected or typed text. |
| Personal information (name, email, etc.) | ❌ No | Never collected at any point. |
| Individual words (dictionary check) | ⚠️ Limited | A single word at a time is sent to dictionaryapi.dev to verify whether it is valid English. No surrounding text, no page URL, and no identifying information is included. |
| User preferences (feature toggles) | ✅ Locally only | Your on/off settings are stored in chrome.storage.sync on your device. This data never leaves Google's infrastructure and is not accessible to TypoShell's developer. |
All text analysis — language detection, keyboard-layout conversion, and auto-correct suggestions — is performed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No text is sent to any server operated by TypoShell or its developer.
TypoShell stores only your feature preferences (on/off toggles) using the browser's built-in chrome.storage.sync API. This data:
No other data is written to disk, localStorage, cookies, or any external database.
TypoShell does not share any user data with third parties, with one narrow exception:
No data is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or analytics platforms.
TypoShell does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13, nor is it directed at children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
